Simplified Models for Frequency Studies in Electrical Power Systems

The primary frequency control is tested using specialised dynamic simulation software. Three approaches are developed and compared to assess the accuracy of the simplified model against the detailed one. The reasons for the differences are identified and analysed using the results of simulations in two testbed systems of 5 and 12 buses. DIgSilent PowerFactory and Python are used to simulate the behaviour of each approach. The power losses are detected as the main reason for the differences between the simple model and the detailed one.
