The Framework of Software Defined Avionics Network for Multi-Platforms

For the situation that the current avionics network cannot meet the requirement of cooperative operations in aviation formation under complicated battlefield environment, the avionics network in Integrated Module Avionics (IMA) and the Software Defined Network (SDN) were briefly introduced. The limitation of legacy avionics network and the advantages of applying SDN to the designing of avionics network were analyzed from the perspective of the practical application of aviation formation cooperative operation. Then the framework of software defined avionics network for multi-platforms (SDANMP) was proposed and the forwarding plane and control plane in the framework were designed and described. In addition, the network controlling mechanism oriented to the value of information was explained and simulated. A reference for integrating the avionics networks into the network system of aviation formation cooperative combat is offered.
