Intelligent Roads as Part of the C-ITS Reference Architecture

Even with the advances in technologies applied to the transport of persons and goods, the casualties on European roads remains unacceptable high. By making roads intelligent and forgiving towards the final user of the roads, being it the driver or vulnerable road user, the SAFE STRIP project wishes to reduce the number of casualties and improve the travel experience and comfort. This paper refers the results of the SAFE STRIP to the developments in the domain of cooperative systems.
