A Microstrip Patch Antenna Design with Harmonic Rejection Using Defected Ground Structure

This paper designs a microstrip patch antenna working at 2.45 GHz which has the function to suppress higher order harmonics up to fourth harmonic of the fundamental frequency and presents detailed design procedure. Good harmonic suppression function is achieved by using two dumbbell-shaped defected ground structures (DGS) under the feed line. The measurement results corroborate well with simulations.
