A Power Amplifier Based On Filter Matching Circuit

This paper proposes a broad band high efficiency Class F power amplifier based on low-pass filter for harmonic matching. The low-pass filter is applied to control the fundamental matching circuits and harmonics impedance, so that the drain voltage of the transistor is square wave and the current is half sine wave. And the odd harmonic impedance is matched to infinite, the even harmonic is to zero, it is help improve the efficiency of Class F amplifier greatly. At the same time, compared with the traditional power amplifier matching method, the low-pass filter matching circuits can not only broaden the bandwidth but also reduce the influence of transistor parasitic effects on the overall performance of the power amplifier. This designing uses Cree's GaN HEMT CGH40010F transistor to complete a new type of broad band power amplifier, which achieves an efficiency of 63%-71%, output power better than 41dBm,and gain of 10-12dB in the 1.4GHz-3.2GHz frequency band.
