A Novel Design of Metasurface-Antenna with Both Radiation and Low Scattering Performances

A novel design of metasurface-antenna is proposed and demonstrated. The antenna possesses multiple functions, integrating radiation and low scattering properties. Tunable property can be realized by adjusting bias voltage on varactor diodes, therefore, each antenna unit obtains different resonant and in-phase reflection frequencies. Through exciting feeding structure of each unit, antenna array achieves good radiation performance. Meanwhile, adjusting reflection phase of different units will realize low scattering properties. Measured results agree well with simulations, verifying the validity of proposed design. This work offers us an effective strategy to design tunable metasurface-antenna and other related practical applications.
