Control Configuration for an Experimental Turbo-Generator

The Electrical Engineering Department of ORT Braude College recently purchased from Turbine Technologies Ltd an experimental gas fired turbo-generator for research purposes. As built, the supply frequency and voltage are controlled by manually operated fuel flow and excitation voltage levers. In our early tests, we found the turbo-generator to be unstable above 100 Hz. One of our immediate research goals includes feedback stabilization of the operating point at 400 Hz.
