Measurement of the Delivery Environment Using Demo Parcel with Tri-axial Accelerometer

This research aims to analyze the impact level on the parcel during the current actual delivery process and suggest maximum impact level standard of parcel delivery service. This study developed a measurement system with tri-axial accelerometer and performed verification tests. Field test of actual delivery environment was performed by sending a demo parcel packed with the measuring device. The experimental results show that impact, temperature and humidity data were collected properly during entire delivery service time. According to the result, the parcel experienced 9 drops during 21 hour trip. Most of drop is occurred during loading or unloading process between feeder/trunk line transportation and sorting. Based on the results of the comparing, we set the standard value of the impact of the parcels in the present parcel delivery system.
