Overview of radiation tolerant unlimited write cycle non-volatile memory

We describe X2000, a new concept in JPL's avionics development. Further, a need for non-volatile radiation hardened memory is brought forth. A 1 Megabit/in/sup 2/ memory density specification: 10 year lifetime, 1-MegaRad total ionizing radiation dose survivability, and >10/sup 13/ write cycles is drawn for such NASA's missions as Europa Orbiter as the first delivery for X2000. We present an overview related with the Government development effort for three such new memory technologies.
