Resource Allocation for IoT Devices in FeD2D Communication Networks

Compared to the conventional human-to-human devices, the Internet of Things (IoT) devices needs fewer resources and lower power for data transmissions. As a result, how to increase the resource utilization efficiency and energy efficiency simultaneously is worth studying while enabling different types of IoT devices access to the future 5G networks. In this paper, we study a distance-based algorithm for resource allocation in a Further Enhancement to Device-to-Device (FeD2D) network. Firstly, an appropriate distance for resource reuse is found out to decrease the co-channel interference (CCI) between different relay user equipments (UEs). Then, more direct communications are processed in one subframe to improve the energy and resource utilization efficiencies in the proposed algorithm based on reuse condition. Simulation results verify the advantage of the proposed algorithm in power saving and full use of resources.
