A Novel Fuzzy Approach for Low Contrast Color Image Enhancement using QPSO

A good visual image is required for any automated system, surveillance system and human visual system. Image quality can be improved at image enhancement phase of digital image processing. In this paper, in spite of converting the image form RGB color space to other color space, RGB luminosity is calculated using RGB color intensities and all three color intensities are modified in proportion to the modification in RGB luminosity value of all pixels. Modified Gaussian membership function was used to fuzzify and sigmoid function was used to update the membership values. Parameters t, used in sigmoid function are optimized using QPSO. Local and global contrast are improved. Visual appearance, color image assessment factor and universal image quality index are better using proposed approach.
