Some Aspects of Laser Cutting of Thick-Walled Workpieces of Phase-Shifting Steels

This study presents the impact of laser electro-technological treatment on the microstructure of phase-shifting steels in thick-walled workpieces. In order to investigate the temperature field, leading to the phase shifts in the workpiece volume, the following methods were applied: metallographic analysis by light microscopy, Vickers hardness method and numerical modeling based on the finite element method by using Comsol Multyphysics. The results obtained are directly related to the process parameters of the laser treatment, which determines the possibility of adjusting and optimizing the laser cutting process.
