Diagnostics Model Enhanced Maintenance

Diagnostic capabilities are critical to maintenance activities by providing fault detection and isolation to the faulty item. The excessive time required to diagnose the failure and return the item to service can often be attributed to inadequate diagnostics capability and complex manual troubleshooting procedures. Unfortunately, these problems also lead to pulling the wrong item resulting in Cannot Duplicates (CNDs), repair turnaround time (RTAT) increases and a decrease in field operational availability. While purchasing additional spares, developing more training, and designing more sophisticated external test equipment is a solution to this issue, it is often costly from both a schedule and budget perspective and burdensome for the maintainer, operator and the customer.
