A Modular and Scalable Architecture for RF Payloads On MALE RPAS

This paper presents the outcomes of a project at the European Defence Agency concerning the definition of a programme for the demonstration of the feasibility and the benefits of a Radio Frequency Sensor payload for Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (RPAS) based on the Scalable Multi-Function RF System (SMRF) concept. It will show relevant military operational scenarios for the employment of such sensor systems, outline architecture and system engineering concepts as well as functional and non-functional system requirements and describe the potential way ahead.
