Control Algorithm for Electric Plasma Propulsion and Real-Time Diffusion Simulation as Observer with Efficient Avionic Computer Systems

The paper deals with the advanced control of electromagnetic propulsion (Plasma Propulsion Engine) and the simulation of its diffusion effects (thermal and electrodynamic) with the robust and radiation hardened computing environment of the aircraft or spacecraft. The control can also be used for other thrusters working with combustion and electric valves. The results show possibilities to perform more qualitative and faster simulations. The possibilities are related to all discrete solutions of differential equation systems, linear time invariant (LTI), the partial differential equations (PDE) and the high performance digital mathematic operations (DMO). The paper gives also an overview of the diffusion effects and their mechanisms. The consideration is made by proposed extension of the of the Fick's laws and Maxwell equations; the introduction of new vector sizes is performed also. The analytical results are good enough for calculation of fields with diffusion effects. Within the scope of this work, a proposed model of the consideration of the electromagnetic diffusion effects of arbitrary current waveforms has been developed. It has also been found that the electromagnetic diffusion effect has a positive influence on the stability and controllability of the controlled electromagnetic system. The phase margin is kept to a maximum for the entire frequency range. Using the advanced control method, a clear control structure for the electromagnetic test system could be created. The model and parameter uncertainties can be compensated by the time integrator components.
