Wind Turbine Tower-Nacelle System with MR Tuned Vibration Absorber: Modelling, Test Rig, and Identification

The paper concerns a wind turbine tower-nacelle system equipped with magnetorheological (MR) damper based tuned vibration absorber (TVA). The analytical and simulation models of the considered physical system, as well as the laboratory test rig, including data acquisition and control environment, are all described. The identification procedure of the regarded laboratory model using FEM updating technique is presented. The experimental and simulation frequency responses are compared. This paper is a first section of a two-part model identification study.
