Laboratory measurements and numeric simulation of a solar cell

This electronic document presents the laboratory measurements and numeric simulation of a solar cell. Many factors determine the efficient operation of a photovoltaic cell, such as the intensity and the spectral composition of illumination. Such parameters are the surface temperature of the solar cell, the intensity and spectral composition of the illumination, ambient temperature, contaminations in the air and on the surface of the cells. Present study is bound to describe the effect of temperature gradient on the amperage and power output of a commercial solar cell through experimental and numerical methods. Said investigations made it possible to better our knowledge about the behavior of a solar cell using constant intensity illumination with and without cooling. After the measurements, we came to the conclusion that by increasing the temperature of the solar cell, the power output will drop. Comparing these results with that of the simulations, we can state that a good tendential similarity was achieved.
