Study on Illuminance Class Selection in Street Lighting Design

This paper presents a technical study regarding Lighting Class Parameters and the way of selecting the carriageway lighting class in street lighting design around the world. The countries for which the study was made are: Romania, England, U.S.A. and Denmark. The study consists in Dialux calculation for each lighting class solution, as well as a comparison of the way of selecting the lighting classes. One conclusion of the paper is that, among the studied countries, the lighting classes with the highest consumption and the most restrictive norm when selecting the lighting class for each roads are in Romania, which actually gives the maximum W/km of road almost all the time.
