Investigation of Origin Destination Trips with a Case Study of No 63 Bus Route in Newcastle, UK

Buses are a traditional method of public transport, with advantages which include convenience, flexibility and being relatively inexpensive. Analysis of bus passenger use is important for both today's usage and to forecast the potential needs in the future. The bus OD matrix is a significant parameter for researchers. The OD matrix reflects the passenger flow from one Origin point to the Destination point, and is widely used in many kinds of transport analysis. The Travel North East Company runs the number 63 bus, which is one of the busiest in Newcastle, approximately 13 miles in length. This dissertation focuses on the number 63 bus route passenger flow analysis and OD matrix calculation.
