LBDR: Location-Based Directional Routing in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networksusing Directional Antenna

Use of directional antenna in Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET)is being more popular day by day due to its dedicated large coverage area. InVANET, location-based routing protocol plays an important role to deliver data packetsefficiently throughout the network. Use of directional antenna increases network coverage area so that more nodes can accommodate in the network. More nodes in the network increases network performance which aims to increase discovered nodes surrounding of anode.The efficiency of a neighbor discovery depends upon the antenna beam width that is discussed in this paper. The antenna model and data packet forwarding mechanism has been discussed in the detail to find out antenna receiving power. Simulated results have been shown neighbor discovery time is lower and antenna receiving poweris higher as compared with other existing location-based routing (LBR)protocols.
