Improvement of Motorway Maintenance Control System

The algorithm that helps to find sections with insufficient draining and to evaluate the risk of hydroplaning was developed on the basis of motorway monitoring data using the method of laser scanning. The algorithm helps to identify sections of motorways that need emergency repair; sections that are safe from the point of view of hydroplaning, in other words sections with no dangerous liquid layer (no measures needed) and an in between option when there is a need to evaluate the risk of hydroplaning on the basis of risk theory formulas and to adopt a set of measures according to the obtained data. Thus when the developed algorithm is used as an application to traffic data bases, it is possible to rationally plan maintenance measures that ensure a high level of traffic safety.
