Common Mode EMI Detection by means of Oscilloscope and Virtual Workspace

This paper proposes an innovative methodology for common mode EMI detection by means of oscilloscope and Virtual Workspace. Data are acquired at different test points on EUT with an oscilloscope, and an image of EUT and the data are integrated in a computer browser forming a “virtual workspace” where the image is used as background and is marked with small balls at points corresponding to the test points in EUT, and the balls are correlated with the data. EMI intensities of the data are calculated by Wavelet analysis, and the test points on "Virtual Workspace" are automatically colored according to their correlated data's EMI intensity from Red (the maximum EMI intensity) to Blue (the minimum EMI intensity), indicating EMI intensity variation among the test points. An example of practicing proposed methodology is given for showing the proposed methodology.
