Evaluation of Developed Colorimeter for Glucose Estimation in Water

Present research work aims to develop cost effective and low power consumption portable colorimeter with reduced detector size which can be used for quantitative colorimetry, eliminating the need for a monochromator. To reduce size of the developed colorimeter, a planar type silicon photoelectric detector (MORICA MP Series photodiode-MH-208) was used, featuring low dark current and high power sensitivity. This detector is able to detect very low level of light due to good signal to noise. A Calibration curve was prepared with developed colorimeter using the range of standard solution (2.5 to80 mg/dl) of CuSO₄ in distilled water and Linearity was recorded. Linearity of the sensor output was evaluated by using the colorimeter in correspondence of Beer-Lambert law.
