Visible erbium-doped ZBLAN fiber upconversion laser

Laser emission in the visible from an all-solid-state device is still a demanding challenge, especially when optical fibers are being used. The paper presents results of investigations of the upconversion process and describes basic properties of the laser: saturation and transient effects, spectral properties and the output power of the emitted beam in the green.
