Beidou RNSS Timing Technology and Application in Smart Grid Lightning Locating System

The smart grid lightning locating system is an important power service, and its lightning locating accuracy depends largely on the accuracy of time synchronization. This paper studies and compares three Beidou timing methods, and finds that the RNSS timing method is most suitable for lightning locating systems. Furthermore, the principle and characteristics of RNSS timing are studied, and a low-cost terminal timing and punctual hardware and software architecture and algorithm are proposed. The Kalman filter-based Beidou PPS is used to calibrate the terminal clock and adjust the voltage through the PID algorithm. The voltage -controlled crystal oscillator makes the deviation between the terminal time and the GNSS time less than 100 ns at any time to meet the accuracy requirements of the lightning locating system.
