Analysis of Frequency Control of Islanding Microgrid including SFCL and SMES

In this paper, Frequency Control of Islanding Microgrid comprising Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) and Superconducting Management System (SMES) is analyzed. In order to prevent the system to encounter blackout, frequency control should be considered an important issue. Providing a balance between generation and consummation power which is the real meaning of control of frequency is the biggest consequence of fluctuation in the microgrid. One of these fluctuations could be the result of a fault. It is obvious that applying SFCL could change the equivalent circuit of the power system and affect the frequency control. On the other hand, all inherent characteristics of SMES could be a big assistance to improve frequency control. The performance of usage of SFCL and SMES on frequency control is assessed through a number of scenarios. Simulation results show the influence of these components, greatly.
