Method of Reducing Technical Losses of Electric Power in Transformer Groups by Means of Automatic Switching-Off of Transformers

The issue of reducing losses in electrical networks and equipment is topical. One way to reduce losses is to effectively manage existing equipment. To reduce the idling losses in transformer groups in substations with a low average load of transformers, it is necessary to make frequent switchings: disconnect one of the transformers at a low actual load, and connect at a high load. At the moment, such switching is carried out manually by means of operational personnel. The article explores the existing approaches to solving this issue, as well as a methodology for calculating the effect of switching and an algorithm for automating the switching of transformers, depending on the load for multi-criteria control. A variant of the practical implementation of the algorithm of automatic switching on the basis of intelligent electronic devices manufactured by NIPOM was also proposed.
