Active and Inactive Power in AC Circuits with Controlled Key Elements

The basic ratio of the measurements of active and inactive capacities in electrical circuits with controllable key elements and active load causing distortion of the sinusoidal current. The principle of operation of an electro mechanical wattmeter induction system is taken as the algorithm of operation of the device measuring reactive power. It is shown that dormant power, called distortion power, in this case is not considered. The authors proposed an algorithm for power measurement allowing considering the power distortions. Thus, the article considered full, active, and all inactive power. The proposed algorithm for power measurement can be used at sinusoidal voltages and currents as well as at the presence of the distortions of sinusoidal current. It is shown that for the compensation of a reactive power thyristor an AC voltage regulator feeding a linear active load can be used as a capacitor. The material can be useful in the development and operation of digital systems of automatic control devices for reactive power compensation.
