Design and simulation of single-axis and dual-axis solar tracking systems

Solar panel facing the sun generates the highest power available. This paper provides a method on how a single-axis and dual-axis solar tracking method can be performed through a technique by tracking the sun according to the sun's irradiation. Two LDR sensors and a motor is used for single-axis tracking system and 4 LDR sensors and 2 motors for dual-axis tracking system. Voltage and current readings from the solar panel rated 7.5 V have been rescaled usingvoltage divider circuit. The readings are then calculated by the microcontroller and have been displayed to a Display (GLCD). All simulation experiments have been tested using commercially-available Proteus simulation software. Measurement of voltage, current, and power calculated and recorded by the microcontroller are accurate with about 1.4% error. The system operations were successful whereby the software programming when connected to an actual circuit will be able to track the sun by the sun's light intensity.
