The Influence of Harmonics on Additional Power Losses at Large Enterprises

Power savings are becoming fundamental for an efficient management, planning and operation of the electricity distribution networks (EDN) at large enterprise levels. The paper proposes a new approach for additional power losses estimation, which uses measurements taken from a harmonic polluted environment. In order to validate the proposed methodology, the EDN of the a yeast factory from Romania was analyzed. The results demonstrate the ability of the proposed approach to be efficient in the determination of the supplementary power losses, and their influence on energy savings.
