A Smart Digital Software Radio Transceiver Design Concept for UAV and Autonomous Vehicles Application

This paper presents a novel idea for the design of an agile hybrid Software Radio receiver and transmitter. The concept of this transceiver lies on the use of cutting edge SoC FPGA that have been recently released in the market as well as advanced RF front-end transceiver to build a powerful device that can deal with modern communication modulation technology such as OFDM, CDMA and process those signals in real-time for different applications. Our Smart Digital Software Defined Transceiver (SDT) targets application are related to Space, Drones, and Automotive. The use of an advanced SoC FPGA as the main processing unit enables not only the design of a highly integrated device but also the combination of remote sensing systems such as camera, radars, etc. This concept of SDT was selected among the 10 best ideas when presented by the author to the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ENSC) in 2018.
