Honeycomb Shaped Fractal Antenna with Defected Ground Structure for UWB Applications

This paper presents the design, simulation, and analysis of hexagonal honeycomb shape fractal antenna with DGS for UWB applications. The initial design focuses on hexagonal rings arranged in honeycomb shape with partial ground. To further improve bandwidth ground is incorporated with triangular slot and hexagonal rings are filled with hexagon patches. The proposed antenna achieves wide bandwidth from 3.74-13.85 GHz (10.11 GHz) with maximum gain of 3.11 dBi at frequency of 13.06 GHz using defected ground and hexagon patches in hexagonal ring shaped patch.
