Design of Three Phase Grid Tied Solar Photovoltaic System Based on Three Phase VSI

In order to have sustainable development the renewable energy is being used in parallel with the conventional energy system. This paper puts forward a control strategy for the three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) interfaced between the three-phase grid and solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The intermediate DC-DC boost converter facilitates the solar PV system to operate at the maximum power point (MPP) besides enhancing its output voltage (VPV). Perturb and observe (P&O) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm have been implemented to provide a controlled duty cycle to DC-DC boost converter for the extraction of maximum power from the solar PV system. Voltage oriented control (VOC) with decoupled controller scheme have been utilized for the control of three-phase VSI, which employs a conversion of stationary abc axis into synchronously rotating dq axis, and vice versa. A proper synchronization between grid voltage and inverter current is achieved through a phase-locked loop (PLL) using input's quadrature method. The realization of the entire system and control schemes employed has been modeled in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment under constant solar irradiance condition.
