A Robust Power Control Scheme for a Dual-Input Single-Output converter with a Standalone Solar PV System

A robust power control scheme for a standalone solar Photovoltaic system utilizing a dual-input single-output buck-boost(DISOBB) converter operating under deficit solar PV power proposed. A battery energy storage is used to supplement the insufficient solar PV power to satisfy the requirements of the dc load. This is achieved by integrating MPPT tracking to extract maximum power from solar PV with voltage regulation of the dc load by modulating power flow from the energy sources to the dc load in a time shared manner. A versatile switching and power flow control scheme has been explained in detail. A state-space average is developed and dynamic characteristic of the converter is analyzed. The simulated dynamic response of the system to the variations in solar PV temperature, solar insolation and dc load are presented. A hardware prototype of the system is designed and implemented which validates the working of the proposed dynamic power control scheme.
