Reconfigurable solar converter with inverter, chopper and rectifier operation for residential PV applications

Reconfigurable solar converter is a new converter configuration which uses single phase single stage topology to perform inverter(dc-ac), chopper(dc-dc) and rectifier (ac-dc) operations. This converter solution minimises the number of conversion stages, which increases the efficiency and reduces the overall cost of the converter. Hence this converter solution is appealing for PV-battery-grid tied applications. This topology helps to reduce the harmonics by isolating the dc and ac loads to the dc supply side and ac supply side respectively. Reconfigurable converter is the basic building block for the future hybrid homes.
