The Potential Adoption of the Internet of Things in Rural Areas

Half of Indonesian population living in rural area. So that, the development of the rural area is very crucial. Along with technological advances, the Internet of Things(IoT) devices have been increasingly used by numerous parties, including the use of IoT for the growth of rural areas. This study follows PRISMA protocol to explores the various uses of the field area, IoT devices, and technology in rural areas in diverse works of literature systematically including consideration during implementation, then reviewed their implication for potential adoption in rural areas of Indonesia. This study recommends that the agriculture field should be prioritized to implement IoT because it is feasible than healthcare. Besides stakeholder support in infrastructure, user education also becomes challenge consideration of implementing IoT in rural areas.
