Performance Improvement with Fuzzy Logic Controller for Generator Control in Wind Energy System

The paper presents an indirect vector control (IVC) of induction generator fed by two-level & three level inverter & is implemented using fuzzy logic controller approach at variables wind speed condition to improve performance of Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). The design, analysis & simulation using MATLAB for IVC of standalone self excited induction generator (SASEIG) are performed based on theory of fuzzy logic. The two level inverter (TLI) is replaced with multilevel inverter (MLI) and fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is employed in the IVC to minimize the torque ripple and harmonics in WECS. The torque and speed response of SASEIG using MLI shows more rapid and superior response.
