A Fine Spectrum Sensing Procedure based on Modulated Wideband Converter

For the effective implementation of Cognitive Radio (CR) networks, it is important to perform wideband spectrum sensing rapidly and efficiently. Due to the wide frequency bands involved in spectrum sensing, sub-Nyquist sampling schemes have gained importance. In this paper, a sub-Nyquist sampling scheme using the Modulated Wideband Converter (MWC) and fine spectrum sensing using a Minimum Description Length (MDL) based procedure is proposed. Simulations show that the proposed method identifies the active spectral bands correctly with minimum probability of false alarm.
