Left-Handed Circularly polarized two-element antenna array for Vehicular Communication

The design of a square shaped with truncated corner printed patch antenna followed by a two-element linear array has been presented in this paper. The proposed circularly polarized antenna and arrays are resonating at 5.9 GHz frequency in the vehicular communication oriented Dedicated Short Range Communication Service band (DSRC IEEE 802.11p). Creation of three diagonal slots inside the patch and implementation of Wilkinson uniform power divider in array are the key contributions to obtain the circular polarization of the proposed antenna and antenna array. The obtain simulated gain of single element and the arrays are 7.16 dB and 10.34 dB respectively. According to Ludwig-3 scale, the proposed antenna array is left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP).
