Development of Alphanumeric Digital Fuel Gauge for Automotive Applications

The objective of this paper is to describe drawbacks in traditional fuel gauges and solution for those drawbacks. In traditional fuel gauges, fuel reading is displayed in between E to F (Empty to full) on a dashboard. Same way in digital fuel gauges the fuel is shown in bars between E to F. In both cases fuel readings are displayed in rough indication format and not in liters. This is a major drawback in both the cases and this drawback causes disruption to a driver or rider over the fuel quantity. This major issue can be overcome by using a transducer that measures fuel in milliliters. This paper discusses how this transducer is used for measuring fuel in liters, calculating mileage for every liter of fuel, reducing shaking error, display.
