Enhanced PRACH Detection by Wavelet De-noising

Random Access Request is mainly used by mobile systems to request uplink resources from Base Station. However noise and interference significantly degrades the detection performance causing them to falsely detect or miss detect the access requests. Improving the detection performance in noisy channel is seldom touched and always challenging. In this paper, we propose an enhanced Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) detector with Wavelet de-noising technique which efficiently suppress wide range of noise and interference in the received signal. The proposed algorithm first de-noise then reconstructs preamble from the received signal and efficiently utilizes them to improve the detection performance. Through simulation, we verify that proposed algorithm successfully meets the 3GPP detection performance requirement with gain of 6 dB in low SNR range which is the key advantage.
