Research on Elastic Effect of the Frame Excited by Inertia Load of the Trolley

In order to verify the calculating method of elastic effect excited by inertia load in Design Rules for Cranes (i.e. GB/T 3811–2008), dynamic response of friction loads between wheels and the rail was researched by means of theoretical analysis and site experiments, which reflects elastic effect of the frame when the trolley starts or stops. A planar three dimensional dynamic model of an offshore container crane was presented and its kinetic equations were derived. On this basis, time history of the friction loads under typical working condition of the trolley and peak values can be obtained. The validity of this analysis method was verified by site experiments. The results show the friction loads are larger than estimate because of the vibration of the elastic frame, the composite value is as 2~3 times as that is calculated according to GB/T 3811–2008. Therefore, a proper dynamic factor of inertia load should be used taking account of the difference of structure style and its location.
