Challenges in Automotive Security

The modern cars are becoming more and more complex, allowing us to connect our phone to graphical interfaces of the car or have the vehicle system directly connected to external networks. These transformations include major advantages in efficiency, comfort and safety mechanisms, but the systems developed in a car are becoming targets for cyber security attacks. The software level in the automotive industry is increasing so the systems are becoming vulnerable to threats from the IT world. In this paper we present the entry points, the weaknesses in vehicle systems and emerging threats.
