IOT based Identification and Assessment of Industrial Assets

In this paper an Internet of Things (IoT) based solution for identification, assessment and tracking of industrial assets is proposed. The aim is to automate the process by making use of communication technologies that do not require internet connectivity and capable of performing in harsh conditions. This paper comprises of a comprehensive comparative study between the existing communication technologies in the industry such as Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC) and new Low Power Wide Area Network (LoPWAN). Technologies such as LoRa (Low power long range) Sigfox and NB-IoT etc. that can be implemented to achieve the requirements of Industry 4.0.
