Modelling of Energy Efficient PV-Diesel-Battery Hybrid system

In the present times, still much of the power generation is dependent on fuel. In remote areas where direct connection to grid is not economic, fuel generators are recommended. Among these Diesel Generator is most common in practice due to its high thermal efficiency, less fuel consumption and good compatible properties of the fuel. Still full dependency on fuel consumption puts stress on the sustainable development. Hence PV and storage system is synchronized with the generator to supply the load. Photovoltaic generation being a renewable source acts as a counter part for all the restrictions of using a fuel source alone at a mass level. In this work continuity of load is laid as focus under irregular conditions of solar insolation. SOC variations are studied representing the behavior of battery under changing conditions. Diesel generator is used as a backup when the other two sources mentioned fails to fulfill the load demand. A Simulink model of the integrated system is developed and a set of conditions are taken to study its behavior under transient conditions.
