Design of Dual Band Substrate Integrated Waveguide Filter for Radar Application in Ku Band

This paper is presented for dual band filter. SIWG devices are very promising for reliability, less expensive, better performance and quality. It has pass band on 13.18 GHz and 17.94 GHz with return loss of −14.91 dB and −21.98 dB respectively. Its insertion loss is −1.21 dB at 13.18 GHz and −0.68 dB at 17.94 GHz. The High Frequency Structure Simulator software is used to simulate the filter. Printed circuit board is used to fabricate the device. Because of PCB design technology, it is easy to fabricate. Rogers duroid 5880 material is used as a substrate with relative permittivity 2.2 and dielectric loss tangent 0.0009. The dual band filter is in Ku band with 100 MHz bandwidth and 270 MHz bandwidth. Because of dual band using SIWG technique, parasitic losses are less with respect to dual band by using cascading of structure of conventional technique.
