A novel Mathematical Model for Solid Waste Management for Urban Area: Case study for District Malir, Karachi

The goal of our work is to present a comprehensive explanation of the operation research model which is useful as tackles for making decisions about a municipality in their daily administrative tasks of planning, organizing and management of integrated programs of collection and dumping of Solid Waste. The core focus of the research, which is explaining the whole plan to manage the solid waste by defining the refuse flows which have to showed landfills, suggesting the number of dumping sites which results to vigorous at minimum possible total cost. A previous data has been adapted by the report generated by the Solid Waste Management Board upon the request of DMC Malir, Karachi namely Front End Collection and Disposal of Municipal Solid Waste. A Mathematical model is suggested by using the software TORA A suitable Waste to Energy technology viability studies may be additionally carried out for installation. Land/Basic Infrastructure is obtainable in and around the landfill site to develop such plants. Amongst 6 districts I opt Malir District as my results it consist of 13 union councils whose detail account is in Data Analysis. Out of total 63 vehicles I opt certain types of 34 vehicles to optimization. Final results shown that by these 34 vehicles Malir District will be waste free by spending Rs.1,552,000. This research is for transportation of Solid Waste from Kachra Kundi to landfill sites. A reprocessing plant and a gas generation rate at dumping sites is more motivating to embrace the concept. By this an program environmental pollution such as air or noise pollution controller in the model construction. For minimizing the cost of transportation and installation of composting plants close to collection points is well exploring. Additionally, the research can be found more useful by including other purposes and resolve as a multitasking result oriented analysis problem. Karachi produce 12 thousand ton garbage in a day, by this waste 200 megawatt electricity would be generated.
