Outdoor Activity Space Design for the Elderly in Residential Areas

With the continuous development of the economy, the number of the elderly is increasing, and the activities space for the elderly is also bigger and bigger. Therefore, it is very necessary for the design of the outdoor space for the elderly. Through the analysis of the psychology, physiology and social environment of the elderly, the activities of the elderly are classified, and the principles of designing outdoor activities for the elderly, the contents and methods of designing space for the elderly outdoor activities, the ground design of outdoor activities for the elderly are summarized. It includes the design of walkways, plant landscape design for outdoor activities in the elderly, how to choose the appropriate plant landscape for design and how to design private space. This paper has done a detailed elaboration for above content and provided some reference for the design of outdoor activities for the elderly.
