Integration of Smart Grid Control Strategies in the Green Phase of the Distribution Grid Traffic Light Concept

Due to the increasing number of renewable energy conversion plants, critical grid situations occur more often at low and medium voltage levels. If a grid state forecast algorithm predicts such a critical situation, this will lead to a call for tenders on a local flexibility market following the yellow phase of the BDEW traffic light concept [1]. This paper presents an opportunity to realize this concept whereby the number of tenders will be reduced. It focuses on the con-crete design of the green phase and the switch to the yellow phase. With smart grid systems, congestions can be solved by using the resources of the distribution grid operators as well. These possibilities are integrated into the concept.
