Implementation of LS Estimator on FPGA

Future wireless communication system demands the efficient use of the spectrum, high quality of service and high data rate. Multiple antenna at the transmitter and multiple antenna at receiver scheme is a key technology to increase the spectral efficiency to provide an efficient coverage of high data rate and also to enhance the interference management. The spatial multiplexing plays vital role in enhancing the spectral efficiency of particular utilized bandwidth. The performance of the Multiple-Input Multiple- Output (MIMO) system depends upon the channel state information (CSI) at the detector and the modulation technique employed at the transmitter. This paper deals with the design and implementation of least squares (LS) estimation method for 2x2 MIMO system on FPGA. The sufficient number of pilot symbols is transmitted so as to estimate the channel parameters approximately near to the true parameter.
